• Discussion “Why We Need a Biobank and How to Manage and Organize Samples and Data: Laboratory Perspective and Experience”.

Nowadays, no one needs to be convinced of the crucial role biobanks play in the advancement of precision medicine and research. A clinical university hospital laboratory is undoubtedly an excellent place to ensure the collection of various, including rare and highly sought-after, samples. However, the devil is in the details - making a biobank meaningful, sustainable, and ensuring its samples remain in demand comes with a range of challenges that must be addressed.

During the event, Martin Zoche, Director at the Molecular Tumour Profiling Department of Pathology and Molecular Pathology at University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland, and a Lecturer at the University of Zurich, will share his experience and insights on the challenges of biobanking. He will explore three key issues related to this topic: 1) Why we need a Biobank? 2) Smart Sample Management and 3) Effective Management of Sample Related Data

Target audience: Laboratory specialists and researchers, biobank and precision medicine enthusiasts.
